I am a guardian, soldier and martial artist; Military and Martial arts are the two pillars of my life foundation. Growing up facing school bullies on daily basis in Taipei, Taiwan, I swear I will learn how to defend myself and protect people around me. I started taking Judo in high school and compete in provincial level and later learning Tae Kwon Do in university.
In 2002, I enrolled into Canadian Army (Reserve) and during my service with the Canadian Forces I Have served in 15th Field Artillery ( Vancouver ), 30th Field Artillery (Vancouver ), Battle School Whiskey Battery ( NB), and BCR ( DCO ) Armor Recce ( Vancouver ). During my service I have went though numerous combat courses design to make one function while under extreme stresses. In 2006 & 2007, I was fortunate enough to work as a freelance journalist in Israel and it was then I was first introduced to Krav Maga, hand to hand combat system used by Israeli Defense Force. The principal of Krav Maga matches what I have learned in the military “ using the most effective and simple method to handle dangers. “
While I was in Israel, I trained under top Krav Maga instructors such as Avi Moyal, Gabi Noah and Zeev Cohen in Netanya city. Currently, I am a G2 Level Instructor from International Krav Maga Federation.
Something special about Krav Maga is its techniques against firearms and edged weapons. In order to do that an instructor has to understand weapons itself. I am also a less lethal weapon instructor from TASER Academy, shooting instructor from Polar Light training inc and machine gun armorer from US Ordnance Industry.
